Unit 4: The Romeo and Juliet Unit

It’s that time again!  Time to read Romeo and Juliet – one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays.  Each year, generations of students are subjected to the “thee” “thou” and “thy” olde language that plagues the written work.  This year will be no different for my students.  The class website has been updated with information about Unit 4, including resources that will help make the reading a bit easier, notes about lessons and upcoming events, and YouTube Video “extras” that help round out the lesson.

The information on Edmodo has also been updated – including links to the No Fear Shakespeare and the Interactive Folio from the Canadian Adaptations of Shakespeare Project.  Students can look forward to fun and creative projects associated with the text, literary analysis and deep reading of select passages, and also an infusion of digital technology to help keep the pages fresh.  I look forward to teaching this unit, and I especially look forward to deciphering all the “punny” jokes.

Also – report cards are going out tomorrow.  Please make sure to check over your grades and speak to your teachers if you notice any problems or if you have any questions about your grade.  ‘Tis important that thou reviewest thy notations upon receipt.
