I’m going to make a series of statements about issues that have shown up in Hamlet.  Your job is to choose one of the statements and indicate where you stand in regard to it. You must support and defend your ideas and opinions on your own personal blog.  You will have 20 minutes.  Before you go, leave a comment here stating which position you have decided to write about.

1. Ambition is an admirable quality.
2. Having power will eventually corrupt those who have it.
3. Revenge is the only way to gain true justice.
4. Karma exists, and a person’s bad choices will eventually come back to haunt them.
5. One must take a stand against injustice, no matter what the personal cost.
6. A person must confront death in order to understand the meaning of life.
7. Suicide is one way out of a bad situation.
8. Evil can be used to accomplish good things.  The ends always justify the means.

All of these issues have come up in Hamlet and you all know how I like to play “Devil’s Advocate”, so be prepared to defend your stance. After you make your decision, and post your decision in the comments section, we will use this activity to divide up into groups for the rest of the class assignment, comparing our ideas about the play.
